Henri Rousseau Oil Paintings
Henri Rousseau was a post-impressionist painter from France who was self taught. He used a variety of elements in each painting from magazines to other paintings to photographs. He was born in the Loire Valley of France and established his career as a tax collector and consequently, didn't begin his painting career until he was in his forties. Rousseau was never professionally taught and was considered to be a primitive or narrative painter. Many of Rousseau's paintings depict different jungle scenes even though he never actually left France.
