On June 14th<\/sup>, the Museum of Modern Art will be closing for a four month renovation. According to their website, the new version of the museum is expected to open in October and will include many new physical changes. Once the project is completed they intend to have extended hours and additional programs to offer the public. While they are closed over the summer they will continue to host special programs to keep the spirit of the museum going and gain momentum for the grand opening.<\/p>\n

As part of the new expansion they hope to have new galleries, space for performance art, as well as new food and museum store options. The state-of-the-art Marie-Jos\u00e9e and Henry Kravis Studio will house and support variety of performance and time based art installations to encourage more artists to experiment with their craft. There will be an Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden and new street level galleries open to the public.<\/p>\n

Aside from the changes in the building, they also hope to create a new art experience inside. They plan to mix both classic masters with new, fresh contemporary art in a wide variety of mediums include live performances. There are plans to change galleries each season and to offer unique programs monthly. So far, the new exhibits planned already include Latin American art, Journeys of Abstraction, and Private Lives Public Spaces. They also plan to incorporate more collaboration across the city of New York, creating a community for all artists to express themselves.<\/p>\n
