Amedeo Modigliani Movie Brought to Life by Johnny Depp and Al Pacino

“Modigliani”, a popular play written by Dennis McIntyre, will be directed by Johnny Depp and co-produced by Al Pacino. The title of the film is currently Modi. It depicts only a forty-eight hour period in the artist’s life in Paris, but a pivotal turning point in his career. Depp describes it as “a universally human story all viewers can identify with” and a story he is proud to bring to the big screen. The movie is set to start production in spring of 2023, but as of yet has no cast list or release date set. Al Pacino, who was a big fan of the play, says “he is excited to show this great artist to the world.”

Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor who spent most of his career living in France. He is most well-known for his portrait featuring his signature style that included elongated faces and empty eyes. His unique approach was not well received during his career, but has gained a great deal of popularity in recent years. He was friends with other artists that worked during his time, including Pablo Picasso. Many art historians attribute the change in his artist style to the time he spent in Paris, where he was surrounded by other artists and his confidence grew. That would be the main focus of the film.

Until the movie about his life is released, you can still enjoy the many talents of this great artist by browsing through the Amedeo Modigliani gallery. Portrait of Woman in Hat and Woman with Fan both showcase the stretched appearance he was famous for in his portraits. We also offer some of his nudes, including Female Nude and Seated Nude. Portrait of Jeanne Hebuterne and Portrait of Diego Rivera, depict people he knew but in his own original way. All of these would be a perfect additional to your art collection.
