Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter who is thought to have changed art during the early 20th century. Not only was he a painter, he was also an author having written several theoretical pieces on art. Later he was thought to have had Synesthesia – a neurological condition in which stimulation of a specific sense leads to experiences in a different sense.

This led to the painter creating art that was meant to be seen as well as heard. For example, seeing one of Kandinsky’s paintings may cause a person with Synestheisa to have both their vision and hearing stimulated. Early in his life, he created paintings that would be considered more impressionistic than anything else. This obviously contrasted greatly with his other works later in life, which focused more on Bauhaus style.
