overstockArt.com Unveils 2015’s Top 10 Most Popular Art

Online art gallery overstockArt.com’s annually announced top 10 oil paintings show some new additions for 2015 alongside familiar faces. Holding strong at #1 once again Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece, “Café Terrace.” Van Gogh is joined by 8 other artists: Renoir, Monet, Klimt, Hopper, Leighton, Thorburn, Redon, and Degas.

Van Gogh had another great year as the only artist taking more than one spot in overstockArt.com’s annual list of the top 10 best-selling oil paintings of the year. “Café Terrace” has been replaced by its upgraded version; overstockArt.com’s Luxury Line proved popular with its hand-embellished gold and silver metallic accents. It’s joined by another fan favorite, “Starry Night”, which has been bumped down to fifth position after a third place finish last year. Renoir’s “Discarded Roses” and Monet’s “Garden Path at Giverny” have taken second and third, each having seen a tremendous surge in popularity.

The CEO of overstockArt.com David Sasson is excited about this years list, he says “There is a lot we can learn from these timeless works of art. There’s a reason people are drawn to them and enjoy them. Perhaps it’s because the artists knew the journey was the destination and enjoyed the process of making art.” Sasson reflects on the reason overstockArt.com was created and adds, “overstockArt.com is more than an online art gallery, it is a gateway that allows people to access the essence of these timeless works of art that is so uplifting and reviving to the human spirit. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the personal inspiration these artists provide no matter what their budget.”

The Top 10 list is released annually due to popular demand, “Consumers and companies strive to keep up with the latest interior décor trends to maintain a modern appeal,” said Sasson. “Just like they care about Pantone’s annual ‘it’ color, they want to know what décor accessories are hot. Our annual top 10 list makes it easy for consumers to stay on top of the trends and find out which oil paintings are most hip and desirable in the marketplace.”
