Briton Rivière was a British artist who lived and worked in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of his paintings were primarily of animal subjects or at least contained animals in some significant way. These included scenes from the Bible as well as secular mythology and folklore of centuries past. He owed much of his artistic prowess to the creative successes of his father and uncle, who were themselves widely exhibited artists and teachers.
