Frederick Carl Frieseke Paintings

Frederick Carl Frieseke (April 7, 1874 - August 24, 1939) was an American artist and influential member of the Giverny art colony. During his time abroad, Frieseke was one of the only artists to study under Whistler, even though Frieseke later discounted his formal education and referred to himself as self-taught. Whistler's influence remained evident in Frieseke's work. Even though he did return to the United States later, Frieseke kept his apartment in Paris throughout his life and would return in the winter months. His style was very similar to that of the impressionist of France at the time.
