Sir John Everett Millais Paintings

Sir John Everett Millais (June 8th, 1829 - August 1896) was an English painter and a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. At the age of eleven, Millais entered the Royal Academy School, becoming the youngest student to have ever entered. The Pre-Raphaelite was founded in Millais's family home in September of 1848, after meeting his fellow founders at school. Millais's work was considered to the standard for the group. By the mid-1850s Millais began to shift in a different direction despite the poor critical reviews. During that shift, Millais meet his wife Effie who had been married to a critic but had filed for an annulment from her first husband.

After his passing, Sir John Everett Millais had been so influential that the Prince of Wales had a bronze statue outside of the Tate Museum which has been relocated in recent years. Actress Emma Thompson wrote a screenplay for a 2014 film, Effie Gray, which dramatize the relationship between John and Effie.
overstockArt.com's hand-painted Sir John Everett Millais oil painting replicas like 'Blind Girl' showcase experiencing nature through the senses as beautiful fusions of still-life, lighting, and intense color. Scenes are enlivened by small but impactful details and are sure to serve as the perfect centerpiece to any space. Millais's devotion to natural study led to gracious, grand depictions of the outdoors - landscapes adorned with life and portraiture teeming with emotion. Millais had a pivotal role in modernizing art during the 19th century in Britain, and his influence can still be felt to this day.
