The Life of Bonnard
Pierre Bonnard was born in France in 1867. Though he started out pursuing a career in law, Bonnard decided to become an artist instead. His work was first showcased in 1891 at the Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris. He became highly influenced by his fellow Les Nabis artists as well as the style of Japanese graphic arts, especially in his use of multiple points of view and bold geometric patterns. His paintings were widely acclaimed, but he also designed furniture, fabrics, posters, lithographs and even a stained-glass window for Tiffany. Bonnard continued to refine his unique style and artistic methods until his death in 1947.
